Ethiopian Human Rights Council (EHRCO) is the first non-governmental, non-profit making, non-partisan and membership-based organization legally registered by the Ethiopian civic society Agency with registration number 1146 and is currently working as a human rights civil society. EHRCO was established in October 1991 by 32 founding members from academia, business, and other professions. EHRCO is an organization that strives for the establishment of a Democratic system, the prevalence of the Rule of Law, and Respect for Human Rights.
EHRCO works in situation monitoring, investigating, and reporting on Ethiopia’s human rights situation at its core. Furthermore, EHRCO investigates, documents, and reports on (often serious and widespread) human rights violations and has specialized in targeted monitoring such as prison, trial proceedings, free legal aid, and election monitoring. Additionally, EHRCO is involved in various projects and programs focusing on human rights and other issues related to human rights

Position: 1. Legal Aid Interns
- The employment type is contract employment. There will be a possibility of an extension at the end of the project.
- Part-time engagement. The interns are expected to dedicate 3 days per week for half a day.

- Duty Station 4: North Ethiopia District – Bahir Dar
- Duty Station 5: West Ethiopia District – Nekemte
- Duty Station 6: West Ethiopia District – Gambella
- Duty Station 7: East Ethiopia District – Dire Dawa
- Duty Station 7: East Ethiopia District – Jigjiga
- REPORTS TO: MDR Department Head
- DEPARTMENT: Monitoring Documenting and Reporting (MDR) Department
- NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 8
- Education/training
- Fresh Graduate in Law (LLB) living around the duty stations mentioned above with less than 1-year experience.
- Knowledge of the legal environment in Ethiopia
- Experiance in providing free legal aid is a major asset
- Necessary Technical skills
- Well organized and gives attention to detail with advanced analytical skills;
- Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
- Firm belief in teamwork, gender equality, participatory approach, and sustainability;
- Proficiency in English and local language both verbal and written.
- Report writing skills;
