The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) wants to recruit employees in the following vacant positions the details of which are mentioned below.

1: Information Management Analyst

  • Education: Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in information management, information systems, data science, statistics, GIS, or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
  • Experience: Zero years of experience for an Advance Degree and a minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible and relevant professional experience in the relevant fields mentioned for a first-level university degree are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, in particular, Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of current GIS software (ArcGIS, Google Earth, QGIS) is desirable
  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator is desirable
  • Knowledge of database development is desirable
  • Knowledge of interactive dashboard software (such as PowerBI) is desirable
  • Language Requirements:  Fluency in English is required
  • Grade:  NOA
  • Support with data coordination, especially as it relates to sectoral data (eg. Who does What Where and When (4W) data, and assessment data);
  • Build/ maintain regular contacts with information management partners to collect operational data and to ensure it meets relevant standards and is available for exchange;
  • Design, develop and manage databases, spreadsheets, and other data sources;
  • Consolidate operational information on a regular schedule to support analysis, including compiling and updating available GIS data (GPS tracking, data from other agencies, etc.);
  • Process and analyze data to support operational analysis and decision-making;
  • Prepare data tables, infographics/maps and contribute to planning and monitoring reports;
  • Produce 4W data analysis and present the data using tabular/ graphical representation;
  • Work closely with clients to identify their needs and advise on the information products and services that OCHA can offer to enhance their work;
  • Develop strong links with other IM staff in the humanitarian community to promote coordination and information-sharing between organizations;
  • Participate in coordination meetings to identify information needs and provide technical support;
  • Ensure appropriate dissemination of meeting minutes, assessment reports and other information products to relevant partners;
  • Maintain contact and distribution lists;
  • Any other duties as may be requested by the Head of the Information Management Unit.

The Embassy of Switzerland in Ethiopia is currently looking for Executive Assistant to the Ambassadors to  provide administrative and management support to the Ambassadors and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the Executive Office.The modalities of employment and application for the advertised position include the following elements:

Main duties and responsibilities that come along with this position:

  • Running the Ambassadors Office, among others coordinate meetings, events, maintaining and managing contact lists, liaison with contacts and partners;
  • Managing all incoming and outgoing correspondence (letters, diplomatic notes, electronic correspondence);
  • Giving management support in various matters (joint calendar, team events, administrative support to visits and delegations, etc.)
  • Supporting the Event Management
  • IT-System Administration of the Embassy
  • Making travel arrangements for the Ambassador’s visits, members of the Political Team and incoming delegations of the Embassy;
  • Provide support to the Deputy Head of Mission and the Political Team (official correspondence, visits, etc.).

Job Requirements

Competence:

  • University degree (Bachelor’s level) in a relevant field such as Communication, Business Administration or Social Sciences;
  • General understanding of, and interest in, the social, economic and political context of Ethiopia;
  • Extensive experience as Executive Assistant to senior management or similar employment experience in a private sector, civil society or government institution;
  • Excellent oral and written communication in English and Amharic as well as in one of the Swiss national languages;
  • Trustworthiness and high social competences.

Skills:

  • Excellent organizer and communicator;
  • Proven ability to work independently with a minimum supervision;
  • Fast learner, taking initiatives, suggesting feasible solutions;
  • Highly developed IT skills; good working knowledge for software applications.

The position will be based at the Embassy of Switzerland in Old Airport, Addis Abeba.

Applicants should possess a valid employment permit in Ethiopia. No work permits will be processed by the Embassy of Switzerland directly.

Applicants must fulfill the following eligibility criteria to avail of this Asylum Seeker Scholarship 2022 program.

Eligibility Criteria of the Asylum Seeker Scholarship:

  1.     To qualify for an asylum-seeker scholarship, applicants must first apply for, and receive an offer of admission to an undergraduate degree program at University and meet the eligibility criteria.
  2.     Applicants must have discretionary or limited leave to remain in the UK, be a dependent of someone with discretionary or limited leave to remain as a result of an application for refugee status, or they have parent/guardian have submitted an asylum application and not yet received a decision from the Home Office on that application.
  3. Applicants must be unable to access mainstream UK student funding due to their  immigration status
  4. Applicants must hold a conditional or unconditional offer or have ‘decision pending’ status from the university. Applicants are required to meet any academic and language conditions attached to their offer as stated in their offer letter.
  5. Applicants must be a student already enrolled on a full-time undergraduate degree at university.
  6. All applicants must have to show a financial need and an inability to secure those funds from public sources, personal savings, and/or family support (including parental or partner support).

How to Apply for Chevening Scholarship 2022?

  1. Applicants may submit the application form online along with the supporting documents attached; required documents may include his/her most recent BAIL 201 letter or IS96 notice if they have one, a copy of the Application Registration Card (ARC) if they have one.
  2. If he/she doesn’t have either of these documents, then he/she has to provide any Home Office letters he/she has about his/her status and/or a letter from his/her legal representative confirming current status, evidence of Asylum Support if he/she is receiving it – for example a Home Office letter
  3. Applicants have to upload personal information that includes full name, date of birth, country of residence, email, and contact number.
  4. Applicants have to provide clear financial information so that all funders may have a full understanding of their financial situation and most assessments are made on trust so applicants have to fulfill sincerely and truly.
  5. Applicants have to provide a reference letter from an individual who knows them from school, university, a mentoring or access program, or from a job or volunteering role. Personal references from a relative or friend will not be accepted.
  6. Reference letters should explain (how long they have known the applicant, in what capacity they know the applicant, why they think the university should consider supporting the applicant with a student grant) Applicants will need to upload this when they submit the online application form.

The scholarship will be given on the basis of the balanced academic potential and financial needs of the applicant. Applications will be evaluated by the University based on:

  1. The current level of academic performance and attainment of examination grades and information provided in application by the applicant and previous study in further and higher education. Priority will be given to those who have not previously attended a course of higher education at the level of the proposed studies.
  2.  Level of financial challenges within the applicant’s household.
  3. The extent to which their status has become a barrier to pursuing their educational goals.
  4. What is the importance of studies at university for applicants in their career and integration within the UK and how they will contribute to the community?
  5. Applications will be evaluated by the University’s Refugee and Asylum Seeker Working Group and selected applicants will be required to provide documentation confirming that they are not subject to a prohibition on studying in the UK and will need to provide updates from time to time about their status to the University. to ensure they continue to have a right to study in the UK.
