Wageningen University Scholarship 2026 for International Students: Applications are invited to apply for the Wageningen University Scholarship 2026 in Netherlands. For the academic year 2026, WUR is offering a PhD position in the Economics of Offshore Wind Farms, hosted by the Environmental Economics and Natural Resources (ENR) Group and part of the NO-REGRETS initiative.

Objectives:

  • Assess the winners and losers among fisheries and other marine stakeholders in the transition to offshore wind generation.
  • Analyze fishermen’ spatial response to regulatory and environmental changes.
  • Create economic decision-support tools for inclusive and sustainable marine policy.
  • Contribute findings to peer-reviewed publications and policy conversations.

Research Area:

The fellowship is based on a PhD study that will look into the socioeconomic effects of offshore wind farms on commercial fisheries in the Dutch North Sea.

Eligibility Criteria:

    • Experience working with huge datasets and geospatial information.
    • Shown an interest in maritime sustainability, energy transitions, and renewable energy policies.
    • Excellent written and spoken English.
    • Fluency in Dutch is not essential, but a willingness to learn is preferred.
    • Motivation for teaching and supervising students.
    • Ability to work well in multidisciplinary and international teams.
