University of Pretoria Mastercard Scholarship 2025-26 in Africa (Fully Funded)

University of Pretoria Mastercard Scholarship 2025 for African Students: Applications are invited to apply for the University of Pretoria Mastercard Scholarship 2025 in South Africa. All Students from South Africa are eligible to apply for Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program 2025 in Africa. Mastercard Foundation Scholars are primarily from Africa. In recent years, the continent has experienced unprecedented economic progress and political resurgence. More than 60 percent of its population is under the age of 25, making it the continent with the youngest demographics. Yet, Sub-Saharan Africa is also the region with the lowest enrollment rates in secondary and university education.

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program supports young people facing economic and social barriers from across the continent, and encourages them to apply their knowledge towards the betterment of their home communities and countries.

Financial Benefits:

University of Pretoria Mastercard Scholarship 2025 in Africa is a Fully Funded Scholarship to undertake Postgraduate Degree from Africa. The scholarship detail is given below:

  • Full Tuition Fee will be given.
  • Expenses for accommodation will be covered
  • Maintenance will be provided.
  • Students will be encouraged to participate in work-based placements and mentorship activities.

Admissions timeline for the 2026-2028 Program

If you want to apply to both Sciences Po and the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, we strongly advise you to begin preparing and assembling the supporting documents you need for your application well in advance, as it will certainly take a long time to obtain some of them (see below).

  • Application platform opens: early October 2025
  • Application deadline for Master’s programmes and the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program: 4th January 2026
  • Sciences Po admissions decisions released: mid-December 2025, mid-February 2026, early April 2026, depending on the application date.
  • Scholarship allocation decisions released: early May 2026
  • Master’s programmes begin: end of August 2026

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for Mastercard Foundation Scholarship, applicants need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Applications are open to Undergraduate, Honours and Masters students that have applied and have been accepted to the University of Pretoria.
  2. The program is aimed at African youths facing significant socio-economic challenges, including refugees, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), and individuals with disabilities, seeking to pursue a higher education.
  3. Applicants must exhibit leadership qualities and a commitment to community service through involvement in projects, school activities, or religious organizations, demonstrating a dedication to making a difference.
  4. Scholars must demonstrate outstanding academic performance, maintaining a high academic average as a critical component of the Program’s expectations.
