Description:

  • The Data collector will be responsible to collect data on projects he/she is assigned of.
  • The Data collector will be responsible to work as a team with his/her colleague.
  •  The Data collector will be responsible to have good relationships with respondents.
  • Explain the project objectives and procedures to respondents.
  • Synchronize their daily collected data on time.
  • They will be responsible in preparing summary reports on daily bases to their supervisors.
  • Present feedback to client on scheduled meetings.

Duration: Project-based.

Required number: 30 (thirty) for each Language speakers

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • The data collector must be proficient in the local language where they will be assigned.
  • Candidates must be flexible to accommodate the different scopes of work at different working hours.
  • The candidate must be humble, hardworking, and result oriented.
  • Identify and report problems in obtaining valid data.
  • A complete daily task without any excuse.
  • BSC on nutrition, public health or another related social field from recognized universities.
  • The speaking, reading, and writing capability of Amharic and English is Mandatory.

The John Snow Inc. (JSI) wants to recruit employees in the following vacant positions the details of which are mentioned below.

Jobs Title: Household Data Collector

  • Specific objectives of the assignment : To collect household level data on maternal and child health services 
  • Number of data collectors needed- 36
  • Duration of the assignment : The data collection including the training will be done from March 21 – April 20, 2022. The data collection will take a maximum of 20 days.
  • Qualification – Minimum of B.Sc. or B.A degree in relevant fields (statistics, health, social science, IT, etc)
  • Experience – Can demonstrate hands on experience on household level data collection on maternal and child health services. Those who have data collection experience on Ethiopian demographic health survey(EDHS) are preferred
  • Knowledge of local languages of the region the data collector is planning to work in (Amharic, Afan Oromo, Tigrigna, Somali, etc.)

    • Duties and responsibilities

      • Prepare micro plans in order to conduct the data collection including logistics for the data collection
      • Inform woredas and kebeles in advance before data collection
      • Select field guide from the kebeles in order to assist the movement in the kebeles   
      • In collaboration with health post worker, prepare sampling frames of households with study target and select households
      • Complete household questionnaire using mobile data collection application for all the household holds under the data collector’s responsibility
      • Work with data collection supervisor in order to maintain quality of the data before submitting the data to cloud server 
  • Deadline Mar 6, 2022
