The prestigious and highly competitive Global Korea Scholarship 2024 is now open for applications. The GKS 2024 was previously known as KGSP Korean Government Scholarship Program. Global Korea Scholarship 2024 in South Korea is a fully-funded scholarship, master’s, and Ph.D. degree program. This international scholarship in Korea is sponsored by the Korean government. The KGSP 2024 will select more than 1378 international students from 155 countries who want to who wish to pursue a graduate-level degree (master’s or doctoral) or research in Korea.

All selected students will be placed at different universities in South Korea. Korean Ministry of Education aims to increase international exchanges and competitiveness. There are more than 104,000 international students who have been on this Korean scholarship since 2016.

Fields are not limited, all candidates would get plenty of options to pursue their careers. There are two ways to apply for this international scholarship, either submitting their documents to the Korean Embassy of their country or directly to the domestic university of Korea.

Eligibility Criteria of Global Korea Scholarship 2024 in South Korea:

All international students can apply.
Korean citizens are not eligible to apply.
A candidate applying for a graduate program must be under the age of 40 years.
Master’s Program Applicant: Must hold a bachelor‟s degree or a level of education
equivalent to or higher than a bachelor‟s degree.
Doctoral Program Applicant: Must hold a master‟s degree or a level of education equivalent to or higher than a master‟s degree.
Research Program Applicant: Must have received an invitation from one of the partner universities.
A person who has already availed of the Korean scholarship is not eligible to apply.
A candidate should be in good health.

How to Apply for the Global Korea Scholarship

There are two ways to apply for the Korean Government Scholarship Program 2024. Either to the Korean Embassy of your country or directly to the domestic university of Korea.

While applying to the Korean embassy, a candidate needs to dispatch original or attested documents to the embassy.
On the other hand, applying directly to the university requires a candidate to submit all documents to the domestic university.
An applicant applying via embassy can apply in 3 universities whereas an applicant applying directly to the university can apply only in 1 university.
Students passing round two of the Embassy track process should not consider it the final selection

The programme will take two months to complete, divided into two main phases:Phase 1 – (To be completed remotely): The researcher will work on and submit a research plan and an introduction to his or her research paper before proceeding to phase 2.Phase 2 -(To be completed at Al Jazeera Media Network Headquarters): The researcher will continue the research until final submission of the paper.

Eligibilty Criteria

1. Bachelor’s degree.

2. Full-time journalist or researcher (freelancer or employed).

3. At least four years of professional experience in journalism or research, relevant to journalistic and/or media fields.

4. Strong research and writing skills.

5. Fluent in English (speaking and writing).

6. In order to apply for the Fellowship, applicants must have a proper grasp of English academic writing.

7. The Al Jazeera Fellowship in English is only open to those from non-Arab countries. Those from Arab countries may apply to our Arabic Fellowship Programme.

Requirements

In addition to completing the online application form, applicants are required to submit the following documents in PDF format, with the exception of video, images or other graphic materials provided as work samples. 3. Be an active and engaged member of the Al Jazeera community.

4. Research proposal requirements

Proposal Should

Be between 1000 to 1500 words demonstrating how and why your research is relevant to your field. Your proposal should demonstrate that the work is necessary to fill a gap in the existing body of research on your subject, underlining existing research on your subject, and adding new depths to the understanding of your subject.

The Proposal Must Contain The Following

1. An introduction to your topic, stating your proposal and the questions your research aims to answer.

2. The reason your subject is of particular importance.

3. A summary of the research methodology and the theories/approaches that the researcher will use.

4. The tools and procedures you will use to collect, analyse and interpret the data you collect.

5. The main challenges that you expect to face during the research.

6. An explanation of how journalists could benefit from your final research.

7. An explanation of how your placement at Al Jazeera headquarters will benefit your research project.

The Following Point Should Be Taken In to Consideration

1. The research proposal should be authentic and original.

2. The research proposal should be written specifically for the Al Jazeera Fellowship Programme.

3. There will be no tolerance of any kind of plagiarism.
