As you all know Applications are open for the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree Scholarship for the academic year 2026-2028 intake. MESPOM is an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree program.
The Erasmus Mundus MESPOM Scholarship is available at four universities, Central European University (Austria), Lund University (Sweden), the University of Manchester (UK), and the University of the Aegean (Greece) for 2026-2028. This Master’s degree program is Coordinated by the Central European University. MESPOM stands for the Master in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management.
The scholarships cover travel, visa, Tuition, Food, and subsistence costs for the whole duration of the program. Below I have shared more details about the program structure, semester cycle, and application process.

Scholarship Duration
The MESPOM study programme of 120 ECTS credits lasts 24 months.
MESPOM Program Structure
- First Year (Fall and Winter): Central European University (Vienna, Austria)
- Fall Term of the Second Year: Lund University (Sweden) or University of Manchester (UK)
- Spring Term: University of the Aegean (Lesvos, Greece)
- Summer Term: Students take an Internship supervised by the MESPOM Faculty.
- Thesis Term: (Students can choose any of the above institutes according to their academic and professional interests.

Eligibility Criteria
- The MESPOM Scholarship is open to all countries.
- Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in related fields such as environmental sciences, policy or management, natural or social sciences, engineering, or management.
- Candidates from other fields can also apply if they show commitment to environmental challenges, usually through voluntary or professional work.
- Proficiency in English.
MESPOM applications for the 2026-2028 study period are open. As in previous years, CEU in Vienna will receive and process the applications on behalf of the consortium.
All MESPOM applications should be made through the Central European University’s online application system in accordance with CEU Admission Requirements and with respect to the MESPOM-specific eligibility requirements and application procedure.
APPLICATION DEADLINES
Application deadlines for the 2026-2028 study period are (see also the CEU admission webpage for more details):
- January 7, 2026*: DEADLINE for applicants who wish to be considered for financial aid.
- April 15, 2026*: DEADLINE For self-financing applicants who are citizens of countries outside the EU/EEA area and require a study visa
- July 15, 2026*: DEADLINE For self-financing applicants who are citizens or residents of EU/EEA countries.
- Admissions Calendar for financial aid applicants: February 4, 2026 onwards
